Low-E Tape for Seams
Foam Strips
Tools Required:
Felt Tipped Marker
Tape Measure or Ruler
Scissors or Utility Knife
Important Warnings

Do not cover or restrict airflow, exhaust vents or the pressure relief valve (located on top or side of tank). On electric water heaters, allow access to thermostat settings (located on sides of tank)

CAUTION: Water Temperature will INCREASE after installation
Step 1: Measure the circumference (distance around tank) of the tank and cut three foam strips to this length. Affix these strips at the top, middle and bottom of the tank.

Step 2: Measure height of water heater from bottom of the tank to top. This is the length. Measure the circumference on top of the spacers. This is the width. Mark these measurements on the Low-E Insulation. Wrap the Low-E around the tank.

Step 3: Cut the Low-E Sheet to the length and width as measured. Wrap Low-E around the tank and mark the area for the thermostat access covers. Cut the Low-E to allow drain valve and pressure relief valve to protrude. Install Low-E Insulation and tape seams Step 4: Cut two semi-circles to cover the top of the tank. Put these two semicircular pieces on the top of the tank and cut out opening for pipes. Tape the seams.
