Attic Installation
1. Check the area you are insulating and make any necessary repairs before installing Low-E Insulation.
2. Measure the distance from the ridge pole to the top plate for homes with soffit and ridge venting. For attics utilizing all other types of ventilation systems install the insulation from 3" below the peak to 3" above the existing floor insulation.
3. Unroll the Low-E Insulation. Cut to desired length.
4. Staple the insulation to the underside of the rafters or between the cords of trusses.
5. Attach the insulation to the end gables to complete the job.
6. Tape all butt seams and corners where roof and gable meet using Foil Tape.
7. Allow for proper ventilation. A 3" gap along the ridge pole and at the base of the rafters (soffit) insures enough airflow between the insulation and the roof deck. Be sure to cut away any insulation from around all other types of vents and turbines on the roof and gable to allow for natural ventilation. Staple the insulation to roof sheathing around vents.
8. Staple the insulation to the undersides to exposed rafters or between
the rafters if you have trusses.
